News New dajinosaurus review in CADENCE Jazz Reviews 11.1.06 ",...this is one that will appeal to guitar-centric fusionheads." "Wright's influences seem to be a mishmash of guitarists, from DiMeola, to Allan Holdsworth, Frank Gambale, Shawn Lane and others. His tone is heavy-effected, with judicious use of distortion and from a technical standpoint, he has a clean, fluid legato style garnered from his heroes." - (c) Cadence Magazine 2006 www.cadencebuilding.com ph: 315-287-2852 www.cadencebuilding.com |

News New Dajinosaurus Review 10.18.06 This trio undertaking should rouse some interest for hardcore jazz-fusion aficionados. Guitarist David Wright's debut is a sprightly one. Indeed, fans of Steve Vai, Allan Holdsworth and other guitar elitists should take note. Wright has absorbed the genre credibly, evidenced by these nineteen workouts. With in-the-pocket grooves, shifts in tempo and numerous improvisational jaunts, the trio performs with vim, vigor and monster chops. Wright inflicts some hurt on his electric and Midi-guitars via brisk, legato phrasings and ascending single-note flurries. He employs distortion, odd-tunings and jazzy chord voicings to augment his attack. Wright and his band-mates deliver an action-packed, yet not overbearing string of events. It all flows rather well. - Glenn Astarita, "New & Noteworthy" Glenn Astarita - New & Noteworthy |

News Raor! Dinosaurus review in CADENCE Jazz Reviews 10.11.08 ",...At its best, it sounds like a less than exciting John Scofield record " " ROAR! ROAR! is by DINOSAURUS (Dinosaurus 2), a group project by guitarist David Wright. (collective personnel: Ryan Williams, el p, synth; Jim Bove, d; Cliff Schmitt el b; Tim Luntzel, el b; unidentified mystery man, el b unidentified vocalist). recorded 8/9/99, Brooklyn, NY). It.s basically a set of 11 tracks (Hush / Doin / Barbar.s Kingdom / Scowam / Big Feeling / It.s Yours / ILD / The Fox / Jars / Little Story / Song From Easy. 68:24.) in a contemporary Jazz/pop mold. At its best, it sounds like a less than exciting John Scofield record. At its worst it sounds like the rest of the faceless music of this ilk. Oddly enough this is an 8-year-old recording. One wonders why Wright didn.t bother to record something newer. There.s just not that much that.s distinctive here. News 4th Floor California 2007-09-01 This is one of those records that is classified by its unclassifiable nature. The Dinosaurus Records website throws out a few suggestions such as "jazztronica," "chillout" or even the inventive "elechillfusica." A less elegant, but more accurate description is jazz-infused downtempo electronica that would probably fit equally well in both the New Age and Ambient categories. But we need not torture ourselves over the labels to enjoy the music. The whole record makes a beautiful accompaniment to anything you do for relaxation: a walk on the beach, a lazy afternoon in a hammock, a drive through the countryside in your convertible, a slow hour in a rocker on the front porch. It is pretty, sparse music that resists being in the background but yet never intrudes. If you like chill music and want to break out from standard New Age artists, 4th Floor California a great choice.
