David started playing guitar at age 15, as a freshman in high school, inspired by his older brother Joe, who could play songs by artists such as Leo Kottke and Pierre Bensusan, just by listening to the album, which Dave thought was magical.

His first lessons came from his brother and included all the basics, chords, and some sight reading. Shortly thereafter, Dave got interested in rock and blues music and took a few lessons with the local rock guitarist but after learning the pentatonic minor scale and I-IV-V progression, Dave was interested in learning more. This was also about the time guitarists such as Randy Rhoads and the Neo classical guitar movement was starting, being very impressed by these players got dave interested in learning classical technique, which he than studied for several years but didn't lead to a love affair with the music, soon after to discoverd Jazz, which did resonate with Dave.

Upon graduating high school with only an ongoing interest and passion for music and learning more about it, took Dave to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.

Being from central Vermont, Boston was a big changed and overwhelming at first but a great learning environment. After 2 years of school, Dave wanted to put some studying to the test and put to task some of what he had learned.

He took a year off to just play as much as possible. He returned to Vermont to see how much playing he could do and if if was possible to make a living playing music. During these two years Dave played everything from jazz gigs to Musical Theatre orchestra pit gigs and did some teaching. While enjoying himself, Dave wanted to finish his degree before he forgot about it so returned to Boston. During this time he played in some Boston area bands, a highlight being, opening up the The Average White Band! (and hearing pick up the pieces live!). After completing the program with a BA in Professional Music he set off for Chicago, IL for two years, where he continued on his musical journet. He composed music for an original play (The score was nominated for an award), performed in a pop/fusion band and played a lot of jazz while getting absorbed in sounding like Wes Montgomery, his hero at the time. He stopped using a pick and began only using his thumb. (A technique of Montgomery) While in Chicago he was able to meet and Jam with fellow Berklee alumnus, jazz guitarist Jeff Parker!. During this time, he played in groups that opened up for artists such as Eddie Rabbit and Kansas. After 2 years he moved to New York city, where he stayed for the following 12 years, composing and playing a variety of music with a variety of people. In Nyc Dave did the "merc thing" playing as a hired gun for singer/songwriters at showcases and gigs, including openining up for the Commitments among others. He also formed his own bands, Dinosaurus and Cachet and performed at many NYC music venues including, The 55 Bar, The Bottom Line, The Bitter End, The Baggot Inn, Izzy's and The Elbow Room among others.

In Fall on 2006 Dave relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area so Dave could pursue his other passion of Software Development. Currently Dave balances his two passions, software engineering and writing/recording music and tries to stay focused and active in both

Currently he lives Oakland, CA where he makes hiw living in the silicon valley tech industry while still staying musically active. (mostly writing and recording)
